Archibald is a powerful tool developed by Polyrythmic, a company that comes up with innovative, original, and competitive software applications for musicians. You can use this application to edit drum parts, from quite simple ones to very complex ones. You will end up with a very nice creation that has real drum feel.

Archibald is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system and for Apple’s Mac OS X. The minimum requirements for running the application on a Windows-powered machine are: 1GHz processor or better, 256MB of RAM memory or more, 1024 x 768 screen resolution, 250MB of free disk space, Windows XP or newer. To install the application you will have to complete a simple installation process: download an archive, extract and run the executable inside, click through the setup wizard.

Please note that when you launch Archibald for the first time, it may freeze. Just quit the application and re-launch if something like this happens.
You should also note that when you launch Archibald, it will automatically load a demo project. This will help you easily get started with its interface and with its functionality.

Speaking about functionality, here’s a quick look at Archibald’s main features: flexible step-sequencer, large sounds bank, use any sounds you like, pattern creator, Live module, assign a margin of interpretation, mixing window, save and load drum kit, MIDI input and output, and more.

Archibald is not free, it is only free to try. The trial comes with the following limitations: the Save function is disabled, sessions are limited to 30 minutes.

The Archibald virtual drummer is a properly good tool, a must have for any musician.

Pros

Archibald is available for Windows and Mac OS X; the system requirements for running the application aren’t hard to meet. You will quickly get accustomed to the interface. Archibald is a virtual drummer that has a very nice features list to offer.

Cons

Trial limitations.
